The Invisalign Treatment Process

Below you'll learn what to expect throughout the Invisalign treatment process.

Initial Consultation

Before beginning treatment, you'll need to schedule an initial consultation with our dentist. The purpose of this appointment is to allow you to express your concerns and desires regarding your treatment and to let our dentist evaluate your teeth to ensure you are a good candidate for Invisalign. Although this cosmetic dentistry procedure is suitable for most patients, it's not right for everyone, and our dentist may recommend traditional braces to better address your orthodontic needs.

Designing a Treatment Plan

If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, our dentist will begin designing a personalized treatment plan. Our dentist will begin by taking impressions of your teeth, which are then used to create a series of custom aligners that will gradually shift your teeth into place. These impressions will also show your potential outcome of your treatment.

Getting Your Invisalign Aligners

As mentioned previously, the Invisalign system uses a series of transparent aligners crafted from BPA-free materials. You'll return to our Orlando, Florida, office to get your first set of aligners. Our dentist will provide you with detailed instructions on how long to wear them each day, how to properly clean them and how to properly care for your teeth and gums during your treatment. Although the aligners are removable, it's recommended that you wear them at least 22 hours per day to stay on track to achieve your projected outcome in the estimated timeframe.

Monitoring Your Progress

You'll return to our office every 4 to 6 weeks so our dentist can reviw your progress. If you have sufficiently progressed, you'll receive the next set of aligners in the series.

Total Treatment Time

Total treatment times vary considerably from patient to patient, but most Invisalign treatments take at least six months to a year or more to complete. This, however, is much shorter than the treatment timelines found with traditional braces. Our dentist can give you an accurate timeline estimate, and assuming you follow all the recommendations, you can expect to complete your treatment within that timeframe.
